Sustainability
Our bakery only uses sustainable flour, which is locally bought from The Shepherd’s Grain in Oregon. We believe it is important that we provide our customers with products that are all natural with no preservatives, or artificial chemicals. The Shepherd’s Grain practices sustainable farming, and focuses on three main ideas:
Environmental health:
They do this by taking care of the land, soil and animal life that exists on the land that they have. Practices of direct seeding and eliminating the use of some pesticides, helps reduce erosion and preserve the environmental health of their land in the Pacific Northwest.
Socially Just:
The Shepherd’s Grain believes the social component of maintaining sustainability is very important, and is about developing relationships that are transparent. They engage in “naked marketing” as an effort to inform and educate their customers about their practices.
Economic Profitability:
While also working to preserve our environment and increase the quality of products, Shepherd’s Grain also has a pricing structure that is based on the cost of producing their crops and is transparent for the buyer to understand.
